What this machine will and will not work

Wood
Capable
Cuts wood easily - the machine has far more rigidity than wood needs - but it is an enclosed metal mill with MQL mist and a chip tray, and wood dust plus oil mist makes a paste that packs the tray and the way covers. Run wood dry with air blast only, cover the tray, and clean out before returning to metal. The class is 'capable' rather than 'production' because sustained wood work is bad for this machine, not because it cannot do it.
Plastic
Production
Delrin, nylon, HDPE, UHMW and glass-filled composites machine well at 6 000 to 7 900 rpm in the 2.2:1 belt position with single- or two-flute cutters. Run dry with air blast; coolant is unnecessary and nylon absorbs it. The enclosure earns its keep here because plastic swarf is long, static-charged and goes everywhere.
Acrylic
Capable
Cast acrylic mills and engraves cleanly with a single-flute O-flute at 7 900 rpm and a high chip load. Do not use the mist system - oil crazes stressed acrylic - and use air blast alone. Extruded acrylic melts and welds behind the cutter at these speeds unless the feed is kept high, so the honest class is 'capable': the machine is faster and stiffer than acrylic wants.
Aluminium
Production
The machine's easiest production material. 6061, 6082 and cast plate at 6 000 to 7 900 rpm in the 2.2:1 position, three-flute carbide, 0.04 to 0.06 mm per tooth, MQL mist. An 8 mm three-flute at 4 mm radial by 8 mm axial removes roughly 34 000 mm3/min in 6061 - about twice the steel sizing cut - and is still inside the 1.5 kW head and inside the 0.0314 mm deflection budget because aluminium's specific cutting force is under half that of steel.
Mild steel
Production
Mild steel - hot-rolled and bright-drawn - is the reference material for the entire force budget, and every structural number in this dossier assumes it. The design cut is an 8 mm four-flute carbide end mill in EN8 at 4 mm radial by 6 mm axial, 0.035 mm per tooth, 4 775 rpm, 668 mm/min, MQL mist: 16 032 mm3/min at 668 W at the cutter. Face milling to 50 mm, drilling to 10 mm and tapping to M10 with a tension-compression holder are routine in one setup. Hot-rolled scale is abrasive - take the first pass under the scale at full depth rather than skimming it, or tool life collapses.
Steel
Capable
Alloy and tool steels are within the machine but not at mild-steel rates. EN24 and 4140 in the annealed condition run at roughly 70 % of the sizing-cut figures - drop the radial engagement to about 2.5 mm and the surface speed to 90 m/min. Stainless in the 304 group needs a lower speed again, a sharp uncoated cutter and no dwell, because it work-hardens the moment the feed hesitates. Hardened material above about 30 HRC is outside this machine: 14.3 N per micron of tool-tip stiffness and a 1.5 kW head do not take the depth of cut hard material needs to stay under the work-hardened layer. The class is 'capable', not 'production', and that distinction is deliberate.
